I
previously reported on the first TED Conference speech Al Gore gave about four months ago. There is now a second speech that is being released for view on video that I have linked to here. In this speech Al Gore brings forth a fourteen point primer for us to become a part of the solution to the climate crisis.
More below.
VIDEO-Al Gore TED Conference Speech On Sustainability
So, you've seen the movie An Inconvenient Truth, perhaps more than once. You have the book. You think it is important and agree that the climate crisis is no longer open for debate and must be solved. So the next obvious question is: What are you really doing now to change your lifestyle since seeing this movie that you hadn't done before seeing it?
The link above is to an Al Gore speech (a humorous, serious, excellent speech) that he gave earlier this year at the TED conference (TED BTW, stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and TED is considered to be the premiere event in these fields,) where he outlined a 14 point primer for sustainability. This is the "second" speech that was not originally made available to the public, but is being made available now.
His first presentation at TED was of the slide show which I previously reported on here. Three days later he closed the conference with a second keynote, and this is the fourteen point outline he presented in it:
- reduce emissions from your home
- reduce emissions from car
- be a green consumer
- live a "carbon neutral" life
- make your business carbon neutral
- integrate climate solutions into your life
- invest sustainably
- become a catalyst for change, educate others
- raise awareness by promoting "An Inconvenient Truth"
- send someone to Nashville who can learn how to give his slideshow - become politically active, "speak up, make democracy work"
- urge the US to join the rest of the world community in capping and trading carbon emissions (the Kyoto treaty)
- help with persuasion campaigns
- let's rebrand global warming to climate crisis
I would suggest that everyone who has seen this film go over this list to see how many of these you are now doing. And pass this link on to others so that they may become involved in a process that cannot be successful without them and us. That is in my view the main message of An Inconvenient Truth and our mission as stewards of this planet.
